Promise of Peace is proud to showcase its Board of Directors who have come together in the spirit of social change and working toward the mission of creating a safe place for the children living in the East Dallas area. May all who join us receive peace and prosperity into their lives.


Elizabeth Dry, Executive Director  She is a resident of Little Forest Hills neighborhood. She strives to lift up the greatness in East Dallas and to bridge the neighborhoods together in order unite and give all a sense of place and belonging. Elizabeth designs curricular components, including the Junior Master Gardening Program and Photography, to engage East Dallas families.  She oversees the overall management and operations of POP.

Tom Henderson, Treasurer and Public Relations Coordinator Having a passion for gardens and now owning one of the premier garden studios in East Dallas , Downing Hill on Greenville Ave., Tom brings innovative ideas and community connections that are vital to uniting our efforts as we support the rich culture of East Dallas.

Kathleen Benanti, Operations Coordinator She is a resident of Holly wood Heights neighborhood. Kathleen coordinates efforts and responsibilities in the garden so that we maximize our growing potential and resources. This spring season of 2011 is so exciting as the garden is looking spectacular and serves as a showcase for all to learn and share!

Ashley Bull, Lettuce Be United Chair & Junior Master Gardener/Volunteer Coordinator Ashley is resident of the Lakewood neighborhood. Having served as a school nurse in the community and being an avid supporter and example of green living, Ashley will frame healthy aspects of sustainable living and bring many expert gardeners to our garden. Ashley will be working with myself, Claire and other Master Gardeners at our Junior Master Gardner Program on Saturdays.

Marla Brandt, Operations Co Coordinator  Marla is a resident of the Junius Heights neighborhood. She works diligently with Kathleen to establish good garden practices and to maintain a spirit of unity in keeping the garden healthy and thriving.

Michael Schodder, Special Events Marketing, owner and visionary of the Granada Theater and the new Sundown at the Granada Restaurant- Michael and his lovely wife Julia coordinate and support special events that help POP raise  funds for our free kids gardening and cooking classes

As the Executive Director of Promise of Peace, I want to say that it is a pure pleasure and honor to work along side of such a distinguished board of community builders! As you can see we have many different neighborhoods  represented just on our board. The Promise of Peace Garden reflects the rich and beautiful diversity of East Dallas. Lettuce Be United!
